Juana de Ibarbourou

Uruguayan poet born in Melo in 1892.
From very young the first poems began to appear under the pseudonym of Juanita de Ybar, which were
compiled in his first book, "Languages of Diamante", work that launched it to the most resonant fame.
His initial style was passionate and sensual within the modernist orbit, then linked to the avant-garde.
His verse, with the passage of time, gained serenity and melancholy, making it reach the National Prize for Literature
in the year of 1959.
She died in 1979.

"My soul around your soul has been made
A tight and gloomy knot.

Each loop return on human
it becomes root,
to take hold,
and it's an endless and long hug
that neither death will break.
You do not feel
How do I nurture your shadow?

My root has been twisted to your roots
and when you want to untie the knot,
you will feel that it hurts in the flesh
and in my wound blood gushes out of you! "
